Start with your Google Business Profile
It's free, and it's what shows on Google Maps and in the local results when someone searches for what you do nearby.
- Claim and verify it, so you control what it says.
- Pick the main category that matches what you do, then add others that fit.
- Add your opening hours, the areas you cover and real photos of your work.
- Keep it current: holiday hours, new services, changes of number.
Say the same thing everywhere
Use exactly the same business name, address and phone number on your website, your Google profile, Facebook and any directories. Mixed versions make it harder for search engines, and AI tools, to be sure they're all you.
Give your website plain, useful pages
- A clear line at the top saying what you do and where.
- A page, or a clear section, for each main service.
- The towns and areas you cover, written out.
- Your phone number, with a tap-to-call link for phones.
- Real answers to the questions customers ask you.
Reviews matter, so ask for them fairly
Ask happy customers, every time, with a direct link. Reply to reviews, good and bad, politely. Never buy, swap or write reviews.
What nobody can promise
No one can guarantee a place on Google or a mention in ChatGPT or other AI answers. Anyone who does is guessing. What you can do is make it easy for them to understand who you are, what you do and where, then check what changed.
